After graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 1998, Gavin Burnett has worked within the ceramic industry and now works as a ceramic specialist in schools and Art Colleges, whilst continuing to exhibit his ceramics both nationally and internationally.

Over the past 15 years, Gavin’s work has predominantly focused on the vessel form. The work has been either wheel thrown or slip cast while using porcelain throughout. Gavin has developed a real passion for the process and much of his time has been spent experimenting with various techniques.

‘Make Tea’ is Gavin’s range of contemporary porcelain tableware, glazed in vibrant colours and cut using a traditional glassmaking process of diamond lathe cutting. This cutting gives the pieces a fine, textured detail. Gavin is currently expanding this ‘Make Tea’ range.

These functional and stylish porcelain pieces are widely collected, nationally and internationally.

Balman Gallery now operates primarily as a web based site. We are grateful, however, to have some work on display at the Hancock Gallery in Newcastle. See their website for more details of their current exhibitions or contact us for details of our current work on display there. www.hancockgallery.co.uk
